protect shawano’s water from
data centers

A.I. threatens fresh water sources like the Wolf River. They run on processor chips in data centers that need natural coolants, like a river, in order to operate.

We must organize to fight against A.I. companies from making a quick buck off Shawano’s natural resources.

Data Centers INCREASE ENERGY PRICES

A single hyperscale AI data center can consume as much electricity as 100,000 to 400,000 homes, or twice the power of a major city like New Orleans.

To build the necessary power infrastructure, utilities often pass costs onto residents. In regions heavily impacted by data center build-outs, rate increases and power supply concerns have driven up residential electricity costs by nearly 10%.

data centers bring temporary jobS

While an average data center campus can create up to 1,500 jobs, these are primarily during the 1-to-2 year construction phase. After completion, permanent facility staffing drops by about 90%, often leaving as few as 3 to 150 full-time roles.

The noise from data centers is enough to drive someone crazy. The low hum of server noise doesn’t seem harmful at first but when you sit for it for a while, you lose your patience.

Hear from employees

The deals from the tech oligarchs might seem sweet at first to the community but quickly sour over time. Don’t fall for it.
